FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why Film?
I shoot weddings with film, because I believe in giving you the best. All negatives are professionally scanned and saved on a photo-CD, so you can have the beauty of both worlds.
I choose film for weddings for the look and quality. Film offers more detail, correct tones and contrast, which makes a big difference when you enlarge your prints. Also, since you own your negatives and photo-CD, if you loose the photo-CD you can always rescan the negatives (to any file size) or just print from the negative. The negatives work as your back-up. You will always be able to print from them, and so will your grandchildren years down the road. If you have questions about digital verses film, you can ask professional photo labs. They see the results the most.
For a great pro lab, I recommend Linhoff Photo at 4400 France Ave South, Minneapolis MN, 55424. Phone: 952-927-7333.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Here is some advice I give to friends and family when choosing a wedding photographer.
1) Decide between digital or film. Do your research.
If you’re thinking about using a digital photographer, you will need to know about the format of the files that you will receive. Are they raw files? If they are raw, this means you’ll be spending time and money having them color-corrected. Find out how many years they have been shooting digital.
2) As you look at photos, can you see yourself in the photos?
In choosing your wedding photographer, forget what is popular; forget what everyone else tells you. Find the photographer whose images you can imagine yourself in.
3) When interviewing photographers, ask how many weddings they have shot. If they have shot 100 or more weddings, this means they have experienced the ins and outs of photographing weddings.
4) Choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with. This is important since you will be spending a great deal of time with this person, especially on such a big day!
Wishing you all the best!
